I single-handedly ran Fixit while simultaneously holding a second, full-time job. Having another job provided the opportunity to start my own business but introduced challenges which impacted my work/life balance.
Times are hard for small independent businesses, even high street specialist Evans Cycles went into administration. Financial and market pressures coupled with changes in customer habits all affected my decision to close down.
Chain stores have created a false economy through bulk-buying bicycles and selling them at discounted prices. Retailing at less than the value of their components, it can be cheaper to buy a new bike than repair an old one. I worked hard to create Fixit and am sad to be closing it, although I can proudly say that every customer reviewreceived was extremely positive. Thank you to my customers and everyone who supported me.
